Teaching

  • Transport Investment Appraisal module with lectures on the value of travel time savings, transport and the economy and option and non-use values.

Research Projects and Experience

  • 20 years consultancy and research experience
  • Managed numerous consultancy and research projects
  • Author of appraisal guidance used by the World Bank, European Commission, the Department for Transport and the Scottish Government.
  • Recent research projects include assessing the socio-economic impact of improved vehicle technologies aimed at reducing greenhouse gases, assessing the contribution of buses to the economy, reviewing the methodology for valuing business travel time savings, examining what disruptive events tell us about capacity for behavioural change and ex-post analyses of projects funded by the EC's Cohesion Fund.
  • Recent consultancy projects have included examining the contribution of buses to economic growth, a review of UK appraisals of tunnelled urban rail schemes and a review of methods to assess the productivity impacts of transport projects.
