ITS Course: MSc (Eng) Transport Planning and Engineering 2002-2005

I am a Service Delivery Manager currently responsible for the management of highway and transport services for Telford & Wrekin Council. This includes transport policy and strategy, asset management and capital programmes, development control, road safety and sustainable transport, management of public and community transport services including the Council's fleet of vehicles and traffic and street works management.

My experience at Leeds gave me a sound understanding of a broad range of highway and transport fields, meaning that I have a good professional knowledge of the services I manage, and the interrelationship between the different services.

I specifically chose my ITS course and Leeds University because of the breadth of subject matter that was covered by the course and the reputation of ITS in the transport industry.

"My advice to students interested in this course would be to take the opportunity with both hands, the courses offered by ITS provide skills and knowledge that can be applied and readily relate to industry."

As someone who studied part-time I found it really useful to be able to apply what I was learning at university into my work and still do it today.
