ITS Course: BA Geography with Transport Planning, 2008

I’m currently a Project Manager in the Corporate Programmes Team. Corporate Programmes is essentially a team of internal consultants, managing complex cross-functional change projects/programmes. The project I’m currently working on involves changing the way we sell ancillary products.

I was previously on the 'Leaders for Business' Graduate Scheme, which included three placements across different parts of the business. In my first year I managed projects as part of our sponsorship of the London 2012 Games; in my second year I managed a team of 80 cabin crew based at Gatwick; and in my third year I was in the Network Development team, where I responsible for the communication of the network changes following BA’s takeover of BMI – including the new route from Leeds to Heathrow!

The Transport Planning modules I did as part of my degree provided me with a useful insight into some of the challenges facing the transport industry. The research I completed for my dissertation on UK domestic air travel has been invaluable for a job in an airline.

I chose my ITS course and Leeds University due to the fact that I could easily 'tag on' transport modules to my Geography degree and was able to complete a dissertation on my favourite topic – air travel!

My advice to potential students interested in this course is that Leeds provides a unique opportunity to mix Geography with Transport modules – so don’t miss out.
