Name: Michael Chadney

Company: PADECO

Position: Senior Consultant

ITS Course: MSc Transport planning, 2005

In my current role I am based in Tokyo as a Senior Consultant for PADECO of Japan, where I specialize in urban transport solutions. I have now undertaken projects in over 15 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe, for clients including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and transportation departments of many national governments. Recent highlights include developing a bus rapid transport (BRT) project in Ji’an, People’s Republic of China (PRC), setting an urban transport development vision for Cebu, Philippines, preparing an urban transport master plan in Maputo, Mozambique, and analyzing transport infrastructure to improve connectivity between Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Myanmar.

Graduating with an MSc in Transport Planning from ITS certainly played an important role in helping me secure my first job at Arup where I spent six successful years working as in the UK and UAE. The ITS masters programme and Institute were held in very high regard and a number of my senior colleagues were also ITS graduates. In addition, the solid foundation of knowledge that the MSc provided also assisted me in achieving the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification in 2011.
